About the Trust
Overview: In Dan's Memory we wanted to reach out and help others as Dan had done throughout his life. Combining his love for the outdoors with a solid plan we believe the Trust can be a vehicle to support those who are truly lost and hopefully this may prevent the same tragedy. The Trust Foundation was therefore started in September 2009 with the official launch date being August, 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is our long term goal to continue this work also in the UK at a later date.
Our chosen ones: Currently, we have identified a small number of specific charities in North America, who we will financially support, allowing them to continue their existing programmes. At the same time we will offer our expertise and creative ideas to fund raise on their behalf. Our wish is then to introduce Wilderness adventures and ecological awareness activities that will ensure the youths can experience all that nature has to offer. The objective is to give them a sense of achievement and to help them forge new and lasting friendships through a perspective of trust and team work.
Our intention is also to work closely with Drug Rehabilitation centres focusing on sexual abuse victims wherever they maybe, in order to gain knowledge of their plights. Their aftercare is our primary concern.
Who are we? Kevin Snook and his two sons, Christopher and Elliot, are active Directors of the Foundation and are all passionate about supporting the charity and its chosen partners. They are supported by Denise Ellis, and many members of the family, who have so enthusiastically given their thoughts, ideas and time.
Through their international network of contacts and by developing 'Friends of the Trust' they will also strive to open doors for young people, who have previously felt that all were shut. Part of this will be introducing them to 'mentorship' schemes where hopefully their lives can be rebuilt.
If this foundation achieves nothing more than to save the lives of one or two young people per year and restore their faith in themselves and in other people, then we all believe it was worth it.
